Jorge Villavicencio / Miami

I work on complicated things that need to move.

My work spans product, payments, risk, operations, and technology. I learn how the system really works, find what is holding it up, and help teams make the next move.

I also write and make music. I’m interested in what technology makes possible—and in preserving the judgment, personality, and taste that make the result human.

FLD-000 / Discernment

What everyone calls the problem may not be the problem.

I pay attention to the facts, but also to the story people have built around them. If a team keeps solving the same issue, I want to know what the accepted explanation is hiding.

The goal isn’t to make the system look simple. It’s to see it clearly enough to act.

The job is to make
the next move possible.

I’m less interested in making a complicated situation sound impressive than in helping the people inside it decide what to do next.

CUR.01

Current professional chapter / BankUnited

Payments, product delivery, risk, and controls

My current work is with BankUnited. As an IT Project Manager, I support payments and technology delivery across Treasury and Product, application support, testing, operations, risk and compliance, and vendor dependencies.

Current engagement — public detail is intentionally limited. The Journey covers what I can share.

AML remediation and controls

Turning enhanced due diligence into first-line practice

At Citi’s International Personal Bank U.S., I helped build the first-line practice for periodic EDD reviews, translating regulatory requirements into systems changes, procedures, job aids, training, and assessments. The work established a repeatable process from the ground up, connecting procedures, training, controls, and review practice.

Startup operations

Letting the constraint improve the plan

The company had more ambition than money, time, or attention. I reorganized priorities, workflow, and ownership around what the team could sustain, turning budget limits into sharper operating choices.

Payment Journey

A working tool for seeing what survives when a payment changes languages.

I built it to trace postal-address data across legacy and ISO 20022 representations—what was preserved, collapsed, misplaced, truncated, lost, or added—using synthetic examples and selected public guidance.

Same person. Different kinds of work.

Banking, startups, training, writing, music, and systems work have all sharpened the same instinct: understand what is happening before deciding what to change.

Questions in view

I write to stay with a question longer than the first good answer.

NOTE.01 Active inquiry

The Bridge Generation

I remember the internet before the feed, before the smartphone, and before every spare moment became inventory. That memory feels useful now.

NOTE.02 Active inquiry

The Answer Is Not the System

Getting the right answer once is not the same as knowing how to produce it reliably. The difference is process.

NOTE.03 Active inquiry

What Do We Do With the Time?

If automation really gives some time back, I want to know what people make, learn, and care for when work no longer occupies every hour.

Adrian V / Active

I make music as Adrian V.

The older records belong to another period of my life. I don’t want to recreate that period. I’m interested in what happens when I pick the thread back up now.

Origin file / About

I’ve spent my working life
moving between worlds.

I came of age while the public internet did. I remember dial-up, early online worlds, and a time before the feed. That gives me a long view of technology: what it opens, what it obscures, and what people must choose to keep.

I’ve worked in game support, Apple’s developer ecosystem, web systems, financial crime, startup operations, product, and payments. That may look nonlinear from the outside. To me, it has been a long education in how people adapt when the system changes around them.

The more capable the tools become, the more important it is not to let them sand people down. Personality, humor, attention, judgment, and taste are the fingerprint. They should survive the tool.
